Elmer Alton Feather was born to Clarence & Gloria (Earth) Feather on April 16, 1951 in Sisseton, SD. Elmer attended the Big Coulee Day School, Wahpeton Indian School and the Wilmot Public School. He later earned his GED. He worked at the Indian Health Service (old building) in Sisseton, SD in the maintenance department with his co-worker/supervisor Gary Owen. Although he did not have children of his own, he cared for all his nieces and nephews and their children giving them all nicknames. Elmer faithfully attended church at the nursing home and was active in all their activities, especially Bingo! He had a love for his home church the Ascension Presbyterian Church. One of his final wishes was to donate a monetary gift to his home church, which he did the morning he left this world. Elmer was a diehard fisherman and was an avid New England Patriots fan. His craziness, his daily phone calls to his sister Sharyn to check on "His Peoples", and just his natural love for everyone will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Nevertheless, we can be assured that he is with all his loved ones who have gone before him and is now with his creator whom he believed in.
Elmer is survived by his sisters Sharyn of Buffalo Lake, SD; Lillian of Brainerd, MN and Cheryl of St. Paul. MN. & brothers Clarence, Jr. of Yankton, SD and Enoch of Eagle Butte, SD. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Gloria, his sisters Corrine and Carol and brother John, his paternal grandparents Silas and Lillian Feather and his maternal grandparents Gilbert and Lucy Earth.
