Funeral Service for Ellen M. Fisher, Anpao Wicincala (Dawn girl), 71 of Waubay, SD will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at 1:00 P.M. at Enemy Swim Community Center, Enemy Swim, SD with Danny Seaboy and the Episcopal Lay Readers officiating. Pianist will be Billy Kohl and Drum Group will be Long Elk. Pallbearers will be Jason Rencountre, Vern Rouillard Jr., Chris Rouillard, Juston Barse, Mike Monzel, Sean Contreras, Avery Finley, JR Bobick, Bob BearHill, Jim Strutz Sr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ann Follette, Agnes Welch, Janet Welch, Cheryl Owen, Sandra Melius, Donna Rouillard, Sue Good Star, Brenda Uses Arrow, Eileen Johnson, Karen Joseph, all Dakota Sioux Casino Workers and Staff and the Enemy Swim Day School Board and Staff. Interment will be in the St. James Episcopal Cemetery, Enemy Swim, SD. All night wake services will be on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 and Wednesday, December 20, 2017 starting at 7:00 P.M. at the Enemy Swim Community Center. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Ellen M. Fisher, 71, entered the spirit world on Friday, December 15 ^th , 2017 at 11:47P.M.

Ellen M (Owen) Fisher was born on November 17, 1946 in Aberdeen, SD.   She is the daughter of Charlotte (Christenson) Cramton and James E. Owen. Raised in Aberdeen, SD with her first cousins, who she recognized as her brothers and sisters. She moved with her mother to Sioux Falls, SD staying their until her early adulthood. She married Richard W. Fisher in 1967. She gave birth to Richard Jr. in Rapid City, SD. She then moved to Pittsburgh, PA where she gave birth her second child Tracie in 1971. During her years in Pittsburgh she co-founded the council of Three Rivers Indian Center. She also became very active in the American Indian Movement (AIM) and she also participated in the longest walk in 1978. Shortly afterward she moved to Waubay, SD. While living in Waubay she met Delbert E. Pomani and while living there she gave birth to Tonia in 1980, Deanna in 1982 and James (Joseph) in 1984. While living in Waubay she became very involved with the tribe and was a member of the Enemy Swim Day School Board of Education for 13 years. On January 20, 1994 Ellen began working at the Dakota Sioux Casino and her career there lasted for 21 years. Soon after she began working at the Enemy Swim District Center.

Ellen has 24 grand children and 3 great grand children that she loves spending time with and enjoys listening to the little ones sing to her. Also enjoys going to the casino, watching her favorite football team the Steelers play and win. She loved traveling to pow wows, rallies and protests. Spending time with family and friends, drinking coffee, talking and laughing. She is recognized for her knowledge, courage, strength and strong beliefs, but mostly her unconditional love.

She was proceeded in death by her grandfather Joakin Christenson; grandmother Florence Bludog Christenson; father James E. Owen; mother Charlotte Cramton; grandson James E. Pomani; cousins Carl G. Christenson and Larry Rencountre.
