Funeral Mass for Elizabeth "Liz" Ann Rabenberg, 91, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with Fr. Gregg Frankman Celebrant. There will be visitation on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Cahill Funeral Chapel from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. and at St. Peter's Catholic Church from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. Interment will be in Mt Pleasant Cemetery, Artesian, SD on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. Organist will be Cindy Marohl and song leader will be Sandi Jaspers. Pall Bearers will be Curtis Bissonette, CeeJay Bissonette, David Rabenberg, Henry Rabenberg, Basil Knebel, Louie Johnson, and Jay Tasa. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Chris & Shirley Johnson Family, LeRoy and Louella Quinn Family and St. Peter's Church Family. Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Ann "Liz" McKillop was born on May 25th, 1932, in Mitchell, SD. She passed away peacefully at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton, SD on December 25th, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. This year she got to celebrate Jesus' birthday both on earth and in heaven! Elizabeth graduated from Artesian High School in 1950. She attended college at South Dakota State University and the Presentation School of Nursing in Aberdeen, SD where she received her Registered Nursing degree. She was selected as the Outstanding Student Nurse in South Dakota in 1954. She married Maurice "Pete" Rabenberg in Artesian, SD on June 23rd, 1955. They were blessed with 5 sons in quick succession and Pete's coaching friends referred to them as his personal basketball team.  While raising their young family, Pete and Liz made homes in Colton and Chester, SD before moving to Sisseton in 1967 where they resided for the rest of their lives. Liz and Pete were grateful that their son Douglas moved back in 2015 to help care for them in their home. Liz took great pride in her nursing career, even though it was relatively short-lived.  She often talked about working the 2nd shift on the first day that the current Coteau Des Prairies medical facility opened in 1967.  Shortly thereafter she retired from nursing to dedicate her life to raising her family. Liz was a deeply religious person with a profound faith that sustained her throughout her life. She was an active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and some of her most cherished friendships were with her fellow Altar Society, Bible Study, and prayer-chain members. Elizabeth was the matriarch and the "glue" of the Rabenberg family. She kept in constant contact with all her sons and their families as well as pretty much every other one of her relatives.  Birthdays, holidays and as many other events as possible were celebrated at "Mom's/ Grandma's house."  Liz was also the Rabenberg and McKillop family historian as she had an uncanny ability to remember people, places, and events like no other.

Liz is survived by her sons Michael (Jane) of Bismarck, ND; Patrick (Carmen) from Sisseton, SD; Richard (Shellie) of Globe, AZ; Douglas of Sisseton, SD; and William (Anna) of Manor, TX; her brother Dan (Carol) McKillop of Gillette, WY; nephews Russell Rabenberg (Parker, SD); Don (Sue) McKillop of Gillette, WY; Mark (Sandy) McKillop of Gillette, WY; Todd (Tami) McKillop of Murrieta, CA; Paul (Mary) McKillop of Temecula, CA ; nieces Mary (Bob) Ackman of Mitchell, SD; Joyce McKillop Johnson of Pine Haven, WY; 6 grandchildren Shanda (Curtis) Bissonette of Sisseton, SD; Laura Rabenberg of Billings, MT; David (Kendra) Rabenberg of Great Falls, MT; Briana Rabenberg of Fargo, ND; Rachael and Henry Rabenberg of Manor, TX; 7 great grandchildren CeeJay, Kennadee and Kyler Bissonette from Sisseton, SD; Hadley, Oaklyn, Bowen and Colson Rabenberg from Great Falls, MT; and Liz's "adopted" grandkids Karissa, Taytum, Tiarah, Trevor, Letrenton, Tevyn, Talia and Kwesi.  She is also survived by Shanda and Briana's mother, Pam Quinn.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Luella (Rubendall) McKillop, and her beloved husband of 62 years Maurice "Pete" Rabenberg.
