Funeral Service for Elias Jericho Ortley, Mato Ċistina, 27, of Browns Valley, Minnesota will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD.  Officiating will be Fr. Charles Chan. Special Music Tim White.  Pallbearers will be Robert White Thunder, Chris Feather, Chase Feather, Cary (Cj) King, Avante LaCroix, Andrew Shepherd Jr., Zach Ortley, and Anjelo Shepherd.  Honorary Pall Bearers will be Daniel Shepherd, Greg & Connie Christianson, Charlie Greeley, Brian Berg, Jackie White, Brian Drum, Pam Keoke, Nick Adams, Libby Locke, Talon Voice, Angie Locke, Darin Wright, Garret White,  Adrian Shepherd, Gary Ortley, Mike White, Brenda King & Family, Peggy King & Family, Wilma (Weasel) King, Evelyn (Kunsh) Pilcher, Gage White, Brian Drum, Dawn Shields, Kianna Howe and Dakota Magic Hotel Co-Workers.  Drum Group will be Long Elk.  There will be All Night Wakes at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center on Sunday, September 3rd and Monday, September 4th starting at 7:00 P.M.  Interment will be in St. John's Episcopal Cemetery, Browns Valley, SD.

Elias was born on September 14, 1995 to Donna James and Kenneth Ortley Sr. in Sisseton, SD. He attended pre-school through the 8th grade at Browns Valley Public School. He participated in various wrestling and football.  He was driver for the Dakota 38 plus 2 ride. He was also joking round making people laugh.  He enjoyed playing cards at Peggy's house.  When Elias turned 18 he was always at bingo then in the casino when he turned 21. He would usually be found in the casino pushing button, he met allot of his friends at the casino.  He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who asked or needed help.  Elias was expecting his lst child this coming spring He was the best uncle to his nieces and his nephews, he loved them like his own.  He would have been the BEST DAD.  ELIAS was the baby of 8 siblings.  He was currently working at Dakota Magic Casino in the Hotel as a room attendant.  He enjoyed his job and his co-workers.

Elias is survived by his Mother Donna James; significant other Shalaine Brown, Brothers Matthew Pumpkinseed, Randall Pumpkinseed, Kenneth Ortley Jr., and Joshua Ortley.  Sisters Jolene Pumpkinseed, Corrine Pumpkinseed and Lindsay Ortley; Grandmother Katie McKay; Uncles CR James, Darwin James, Robert James, Gary Ortley, Silas Ortley, Edmond Twostars; Aunt Pauline White Thunder, Cheryl Spider, and Wilma (Weasel); Nieces Angel, Cassidy, Tehinda, Mahpiya, Jaelyn and Janessa; Nephews Marcus, Chase, Avante, Shane, Colter and Wiley.

Elias was preceded in death by his Father Kenneth R. Ortley Sr.; Grandparents Silas and Rosalie Ortley Sr. and LaRue and Vastana James; Aunt Sheila James; and numerous other uncles and aunts; Grandpa Ray Shepherd.
