Funeral Mass for Elaine Gertrude Wolfe, 88 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Wednesday, November 28,2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Hitpas, OMI Celebrant. Organist will be Cindy Marohl
and song leader will be Sherman Hannasch. Pallbearers will be James Petrich, Josh Forcier, Timothy Bladow, Robert Wolfe Jr., Zebadiah Wolfe and Jacob Wolfe. Interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD There will be visitation on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Cahill Funeral Chapel from 1:00 to 4:00 PM and at St. Peter's Catholic Church from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.
Elaine Gertrude Nigg was born near Peever, SD on September 20, 1924 to Felix and Theresa (Schaeffer) Nigg. Elaine attended Peever School. Elaine was united in marriage to Kent B. Wolfe on February 2, 1945 in Nebraska. They lived in Virginia for six years, during World War II, and Elaine worked at the Ammunition Factory. In 1962 they moved to the Sisseton Area. Elaine worked at the Tekakwitha Nursing Home as a dietary manager until 1988 when she retired. Elaine was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, and the Altar Society, she had a strong catholic faith and used her rosary daily. Elaine was an avid reader, enjoyed embroidering, like classic movies, collected dolls and antiques. Elaine enjoyed visiting with her family and she raised her grandson, Robert Wolfe, Jr. Kent passed away on Feb. 13, 1981. Elaine continued to make her home in Sisseton, and for the past six years she lived in Peever where Ron was her main caretaker. Elaine passed away on November 21, 2012 at the Tekakwitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD.
Elaine is survived by eleven children, Edna Prebish of Minneapolis, MN, Barbara (Thomas) Duncan of Gastonia, NC, Theresa (Noris) Carsen of Albuquerque, NM, Sharon (Lyle) Bladow of Fargo, ND, Mary Jane ( Alan) Petrich of Aberdeen, SD, Lee Ann (James) Eklund of Wahpeton, ND, Richard (Annette) Wolfe of Moorhead, MN, Robert Wolfe of Sisseton, SD, Lisa Forcier and Ron McGregor of Peever, SD, Thomas Wolfe and Anthony Wolfe of Sisseton, SD; one daughter-in-law Barbara Wolfe of Sisseton, SD; one sister-in-law Donna Nigg of Helena, MT; twenty five grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren; and three great-great granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, James and Felix; one granddaughter, Heather Petrich; two infant great grandsons; two sisters, Emma and Annie; five brothers, Lynn, Herb, Robert, Edward and James, and one son-in-law Mathew Forcier.
