Elaine Aadland German was born on December 12, 1936 to Emil and Viola (Ostby) Aadland in Claire City, SD. She graduated from Sisseton High School. Elaine married Alvin German on October 1, 1955 in Sisseton. To this union six children were born.

Elaine enjoyed reading, writing poetry and raising a garden on the farm where she lived with Alvin for 60 years. She worked for Lowell Lundstrom Ministries for 25 years until her retirement in 2000. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children whom she dearly loved. She always said she raised her best friends.

Elaine accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She spent much time reading her Bible. Psalm 91 was her favorite scripture passage, especially verse sixteen which says, "With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation." She lived out her Christian faith and desired that all would come to know Jesus. She would walk the floor praying that all of her children and descendants would faithfully follow Jesus until his return. Elaine was a member of Family Life Assembly of God in Sisseton and more recently attended Central United Methodist Church in Milbank. Through the years she taught Sunday School, Confirmation, Luther League and led many Bible studies. Elaine passed away on February 1, 2023 at St. William's Care Center, Milbank, S D.
