Obituary

Funeral Service for Edwin Scott Robertson, Jr., Maza Ṡa (Red Iron), 47 of Agency Village, SD will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Community Center, Agency Village, SD with Spiritual Leader Perry Bobtail Bear, JC Crawford, Pastor Morgan Redday, Pastor Milton Owen, Coke and Mike LaFontaine officiating. Drum Group will be Thunder Bear. Pallbearers will be Mike Robertson, Chris Robertson, Brian Robertson, Derrick Redday, Kip Renville and James German. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Heminger, Randy Richter, Tony Huntington, Phillip Barse, Ron Redday, John Redday, Sol Goodsell, Gerald Amos, JC Crawford, Mike Heminger and all of Ed's Co-workers from all the Casinos'. Wake Services will be held at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Community Center starting at 7:00 P.M. on Monday and Tuesday (all night). Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD.   The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton SD is in charge of Funeral arrangements.

Edwin Scott Robertson Jr. was born on July 14, 1969 in Sisseton, SD to Edwin Bernell Robertson and Phyllis (Redday) Roberts. He was baptized by Reverend Mauer at the Gethsemane Episcopal Church, Sisseton, SD in August 1969 and his God Parents were George and Lenore Johnston. He was confirmed at the Gethsemane Episcopal Church in April 1983 by Rev. Ron Campbell and Bishop Walter Jones. He attended Sisseton Public Schools, and then went to Wahpeton Indian School through the 5 th grade, and then St. Mary's Episcopal School and Tiospa Zina Tribal School. He received his GED. Edwin worked at all three casino's from 1989 to 2015, he especially loved the Dakota Connection. He helped move the Bingo Hall from Agency to the Dakota Connection. He also worked numerous jobs but mostly loved the Casino industry. His favorite singer was Hank Williams Jr. He enjoyed fishing with his friends and family. He was great with electronic devices (computers, laptops, and cell phones) he had a skill for making things work. The Dallas Cowboys and Boston Celtics were his favorite teams. He was an avid reader of history, especially of the 1960's and 70's and military history.     He was outgoing, gregarious person with good communications skills. He was also known as a charismatic pragmatist "a people person" who was open to the ideas of others. He loved to talk to people. Edwin succumbed to his illness surrounded by his family on May 27, 2017 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.

Edwin is survived by his mother, Phyllis Redday-Roberts; three brothers, Robert (Teresea) Bird, David (Carrie) Bird, and Madrid Roberts Jr.; three sisters, twin sister Robin Robertson, Susan Robertson, and Phyllis H. Roberts; three children, Elsie (James) White, Mike Robertson, and Christian (Chassady) Robertson; five grandchildren, Kenny James, Hazel Monroe, Thomas Bernell, Milton Daniel, and Cecelia Diane; God Mother Lenore Johnston; his wife Holly Keeble-Robertson (estranged); Ceremonial Relatives, Lynette Bobtail Bear, David Ware Alexander, Iris Keoke and Janelle Many Lightings and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Edwin was preceded in death by his father, Edwin B. Robertson, paternal grandmother, Lillian Robertson; maternal grandfather, Howard Redday; maternal grandmother, Josephine Big Talk-Redday; great aunts, Eunice Robertson-Morrison and Susan Titus-Wilson; and granddaughter, Giselle Grace German.
