Funeral Service for Edward Twitero, 77, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Lutheran Church, Claire City, SD with Pastor Cheryl Rondeau-Bassett officiating. Organist will be Criss Kemnitz with hymns by the congregation. Pallbears will be Jason, Jonathon, and Trent Twitero, Jeff Gregg, Aaron Kemnitz, and Mike Tossett. Military rites will be provided by the Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post #50 and the Fort Sisseton V.F.W. Post #3342. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Masonic service at 7:00 at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Inc. is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Edward Thorne Twitero died Wednesday, June 24, 2015 in Fargo following a short illness.
Ed was born to Thorne and Marjorie Twitero on September 30, 1937 in Sisseton, SD. He was raised on a farm north of Sisseton where he, his brothers and his cousins "enjoyed" picking rocks. He attended grade school at Enterprise #3 and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1956. During high school he was active in football, 4-H and the local FFA chapter. Ed joined the National Guard in 1960, completing his service 6 years later on the same day his youngest brother Tom received his draft notice. Ed joined his father and Uncle Lloyd in partnership farming and continued working in the area in partnership with his brother Tom after their deaths. He served as township clerk, following in the footsteps of his father, grandmother and grandfather. Ed and his mom Marjorie hosted township board meetings for many years. Ed loved the land and loved farming. Driving his red tractor was a source of pride. He was active in the Crop Improvement Association, growing diversified crops and raising livestock. Ed was active in the Sisseton Masonic Lodge and rose to serve as Worshipful Master. In later years a social high point was coffee at the Claire City Farmer's Café.
Ed is survived by three brothers, George (Shari) of Rapid City, SD; Harold (Shari) of Audubon, MN;
and Tom (Marguerite) of Sisseton, SD and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
