Funeral Service for Edna Williams-Max, 82, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with Rev. Clifford Canku officiating. Pianist will be Betty Neilan. Pallbearers will be Jim Max, Christy Max, Wayne Lufkins, Ron Max, Joseph Max, Albert Spider Jr., Brandi Max, Gail Max, and Jonathan Max. Honorary Pallbearers will be "All of her friends and relatives". Interment will be in the Ascension Presbyterian Cemetery, Big Coulee, SD. Wake Service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel., Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Edna was born on January 1, 1933 in Browns Valley, MN to John Williams and Hanrietta Smith. She grew up and attended school in Wahpeton, ND and Flandreau, SD. After her education she married Daniel Max in 1955 in Wheaton, MN. They then moved to California and she continued her education working as a Nurses Aide at a nursing home in Freemont, CA. She retired and returned to Sisseton, SD where she lived until her death on September 9, 2015. She loved to play slot machines and spent her final days doing what she loved.
Edna is survived by her two sons Ronald Max of Sisseton, SD and James Max of Milpitas, CA; one sister "Lydia" Joan Spider of Wilmot, SD and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters Esther Country and Doris Williams Roy.
