Funeral Service for Edgar R. Weinkauf, 84 of Sisseton, South Dakota will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. William Schruba officiating. Organist will be Mona Greseth and soloist will be Tim Farmen. Pallbearers will be Patrick and Jamie Grob, Corey Cordell, Tim Emmons, Jared Wegleitner and James Weinkauf. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Edgars Friends and co-workers. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Saturday, January 31, 2009 from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, and Sunday, February 1, 2009 one hour prior to the services at the church.
Edgar was born on March 26, 1924 In Frazee, MN to Fred and Ella (Guetling) Weinkauf. As a young lad, he lived in ND for a while, before moving to SD. Edgar attended country school. Edgar was united in marriage to Tillie Walz on October 30, 1945 at Sisseton, SD. To this union three children were born. When Edgar was first married he worked for a house moving company. He then went to work for Roberts County Highway Dept. and then for the State Highway Dept. working for twenty three years before retiring in 1986. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, making wood crafts, and being with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Edgar was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Edgar passed away on January 29, 2009 at the Tekakwitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD.
Edgar is survived by his wife, Tillie of Sisseton, SD; one son, Clinton and his wife, Kathy Weinkauf of Guernsey, WY, two daughters, Sherry Cordell of Watertown, SD, and Sarah and her husband, Pat Grob of Richfield, MN; two sisters, Karen and husband (Herman) Wegleitner of Sisseton, SD, and Marlys and husband, James Blomquist of Lemon, SD; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Alloy, Donald and Delbert; two son-in-laws, James Cleveland and Howard Cordell.
