A Celebration of Life Service for Edgar Ray Renville, 51, of Eden, South Dakota will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 7:00 P.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with a meal starting at 5:00 P.M.  Officiating will be Philmore Simon. Lay Readers Levi Keoke and Jess Larsen and Spiritual Leader John Eagle.  Drum Group will be the Eastman Boys.  Pall Bearers will be Edgar Pettiford, Wesley Renville, Edward Tipton, Kevin Nelson, Dathan Renville, Darwin Greeley and Jarell Renville.  Honorary Pall Bearers will be All Edgar's Family & Friends.  Inurnment will be at St. Mary's Episcopal Cemetery, Agency Village, SD at a later date.  The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Edgar was born on September 28, 1972 at St. Paul, Minnesota to Janel (Renville) Many Lightnings and Edgar Pettiford.  He spent his early childhood in the St. Paul, MN area before moving to Sisseton at the age of 13.  He attended Sisseton High School and the Flandreau Indian School.  He  came back to Sisseton and worked at Dakota Magic becoming  a Pit Boss.  He met Joyce Red Bear and had 3 daughters.  Later he worked at the Dakota Magic C-Store where he met his son,  Dathan's mother. He loved fishing, football, beading and loved spending time with his grandchildren.  Edgar passed away at his home on September 14, 2024.

Edgar is survived by his mother Janel Many Lightnings of Eden, SD; his father Edgar Pettiford of St. Paul, MN; and children Emily Renville of St. Paul, MN, Zaria Renville of Yankton, SD, Dathan Renville and Darwin Greeley of Sisseton, SD; brothers Wesley Renville of Sioux Falls, SD, Edward Tipton of Sisseton, SD and Kevin Nelson of St. Paul, MN; sisters Michele Renville of Watertown, SD and Tanya Renville of St Paul, MN; grandchildren  Hendrix Renville, Caius Renville, Jiselle Robertson, Reverie Goodteacher, Ender Goodteacher and Ava Greeley; and many nieces and nephews.

Edgar was preceded in death by his daughter Raegina Faye Renville; brother Edward Nelson; paternal grandparents Margaret Marcy and Arthur Pettiford; maternal grandparents V. June Renville and Magnus Renville.
