Funeral Service for Duane Pratt, 69, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness with Elder Richard Keeble officiating. Pallbearers will be Donald Bruce Bad Moccasin, Reynold Pratt, Mike Price, Jason Becker, Don Miller, Emit Valnes, Delano Renville and Brian Renville. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Duane's Family and Friends. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Monday, January 16, 2012 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness.
Duane was born on May 20, 1942 at Ft. Thompson, SD to Raymond H. and Josephine (Bad Moccasin) Pratt. He grew up and attended school in Pierre, San Diego, CA and Carson City NV. He graduated from Flandreau High School. He moved to California and worked as a steel worker. Duane was united in marriage to Joanne O'Connell on July 10, 1965 in Reno, NV. They made their home in California until 1971 when they moved to Sisseton. Duane drove school bus for Sisseton High School for ten years. Then he attended college in Morris, MN and graduated in 1992 with a BA degree. He started working at the SWS Tribal Head start as the special needs manager. He liked music, spending time with family, grandchildren and watching movies. He liked to fish and play guitar. Duane passed away suddenly at Tekakwitha Living Center on January 12, 2012 after a short battle with cancer.
Duane is survived by five children, Donovan (Kim) Pratt of Sisseton, SD, Trevor Pratt, Joshua Pratt, and Lance Pratt all of Sisseton, SD, and Shawn Johns of Washington; two sisters, Lottie Miller of Anaheim, CA and Laura Big Eagle of Ft. Thompson, SD; two brothers, Reynold Pratt of St. Paul, MN and Wade Aikins of Sioux Falls, SD; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers Patrick, Raymond H. Pratt Jr., and Gilbert McBride, and one sister, Cheryl Saul.
