Memorial Service for Dorman Dean Hansen, 86, of Peever, SD will be held on Saturday, September 30,2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Peever Lutheran Church, Peever, SD with Rev. Kay Reeb officiating. Pianist will be Amy Currence. Urn Bearer will be Mark Hansen. Honorary Urn bearers will be all of Dorman's family and friends. Inurnment will be in the One Road Bethel Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation one hour prior to the Memorial Service at the Church. The Cahill Funeral chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Dorman Dean Hansen was born on July 29th, 1937 in Wilmot, SD to Nels Hansen and Orphia Holty. He attended Peever High School graduated in 1956, South Dakota State University graduated in 1960 and received his Bachelor's of Education, and his Master's of Education at SDSU in 1988. Dorman was united in marriage to Gale Marilyn Gunderson on June 13th, 1959. After graduating from SDSU, Dorman taught High School Science in Rapid City, Sisseton, and Sunshine Bible Academy and Boone High School. Dorman's career took many turns throughout his life. After finishing college at SDSU in Brookings, SD in 1960; he went on to teach High School in Rapid City, SD. After a few years he went into sales and worked for International Papers in Minneapolis, MN.  He then got out of sales and opened a restaurant in Fort Dodge, IA called the Warden Inn. After four years in Ft Doge, He moved his family to Boone, IA and opened a restaurant called the Dairy Sweet, which he and his family ran for about 6 years. He then went back into sales and worked in Ames, IA where he sold furniture while going back to school at the Iowa State University where he received education credits to go back to teaching High School Science. In 1986, Dorman moved his family back to South Dakota and taught High School Science at Sunshine Bible Academy for 2 years. During this time he was studying for his Master's in Education and received a Master's degree from SDSU in 1988 and they moved again to take a new position as the High School Principal for Rutland High School. Next year he took a new opportunity to move closer to his extending family and became the new Principal for South Shore High School. He worked as the Principal for South Shore until 1994 and retired from teaching. During the summer, Dorman would sell Aerial Photographs of farms and acreages while he was teaching at South Shore and decided to do this full time after he retired from teaching. He moved his family one more time to a farmhouse just South of Peever, SD in 1994 to be closer to extended family.  Dorman continued to work for Scenic Concepts and became the company's top salesman multiple years in a row and finally retired from this at the age of 74. While raising a family of 6 sons and 1 daughter, Dorman coached baseball, basketball, and taught Sunday school. Dorman was a member of multiple churches in South Dakota, and his longest membership was to Peever Lutheran Church in Peever, SD. Dorman passed away on September 26, 2023 at Prairie Lakes Hospital, Watertown, SD.

Dorman is survived by his seven children, Jana Hansen of Sisseton, SD, Jeff (Diane) Hansen of Moundsview, MN, Paul Hansen of Newburgh, IN, Todd Hansen of Watertown, SD, Terry Hansen of Wolverton, MN, John (Leah) Hansen of West St Paul, MN and Mark ( Sarah) Hansen of Las Vegas, NV; one brother, Boyd ( Gayle) Hansen; fifteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and in-laws Diane (Glen) Johnson of Sisseton, SD, Connie (Doug) Just of Sisseton, SD and Roger and Phyllis Gunderson of Sisseton, SD.

Dorman was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Gale.
