Memorial Service for Doris Schocker, 92, of Summit, SD will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at the Ortley Free Lutheran Church, Ortley, SD with Pastor Ken Flaten officiating. Urn Bearer will be Marie Chapin. Honorary Urn Bearers will be Pam Engstrom, Linda Simmons and all of Doris' Friends and Family. Inurnment will be held at the Ortley Cemetery, Ortley, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Doris Schocker was born on May 13, 1934 in Sisseton, SD to Michael and Irene (Campbell) Graycek. She attended Country School through the 8th grade. Growing up she worked on the family farm and helped with doing chores, cutting hay, and attending to the cattle. Doris always loved the outdoors and had a passion for all animals, big and small. She had a very special place in her heart for horses. When she was young, she started training and breaking horses which she turned into a business and was know all over for her ability of working with horses. She saved up her money for years to buy a new 1957 Chevy Bel Air. On November 11, 1959 she married Clarence "Jim" Schocker. Jim worked for the Railroad, so he was gone during the week and home on weekends. Doris stayed on the farm and tended to the land and animals. They had one son Christopher.

Doris and her mother started training and showing show horses in South Dakota and Minnesota and both winning many awards at competitions.  Later they got into breeding and selling Pedigree horses. Until her mother had an accident and was unable to continue with the business.  Doris' favorite horse was the Paint Horse's. She enjoyed and attended many Trail Rides throughout her life. She also was a good hunter and made a business out of hunting deer and people would bring her deer. She would make jerky and sell it from her own recipe and sell the hides.

She was a very hardworking woman her whole life; working on the farm and even still putting up hay into her 90's. She will always be known as an avid horsewoman.  Doris passed away on July 13th, 2026 in Roslyn, SD.

Doris is survived by her son Christopher (Nannette) Schocker; grandson Tyler Schocker; step-grandchildren Brandon, Ryanin, Sierra, and Senca Rockwood; step-great-grandchildren Conner, Addy, and Evangeline; niece Dana Graycek; and numerous cousins.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents Micheal and Irene Graycek; husband Clarence "Jim" Schocker; brothers Alan and Darwin Graycek.
