Obituary

Funeral Service for Doris G. Hormann, 89, Watertown, SD formerly of Sisseton, SD will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. James Wilshusen officiating. Organist will be Clarice Arbach.  Pallbearers will be Kenneth Miles, Andrew Miles, Joseph Hormann, Gaven Ceroll, Blake Ceroll, and Brad Oland.  Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Doris's grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and staff at Pine Village of Jenkins Living Center. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery following the services.  There will be visitation on Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton,  SD.

Doris G. Hormann, daughter of William and Hazel (Tostenson) Lotz was born near Peever, SD on May 8, 1930.  Doris grew up and attended country school and after her education she helped on the family farm.  Doris was united in marriage to Daryl E. Hormann on May 15, 1953 in Sisseton, SD.  Daryl made a career in the United States Army, while Doris was a military wife traveling the world with Daryl and raising the children.  The couple then returned to Sisseton, SD when Daryl retired from the Army.

Doris liked to bake, garden, can, and sew. She was known for her delicious homemade bread. She was active in the Emanuel Lutheran Church and ladies aide.  She was a Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader.  She loved her family and her grandchildren and instilled faith in God in her loved ones.  Doris passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019 at Pine Village in Jenkins Living Center in Watertown, SD.

Doris is survived by her children David Hormann of Watertown, SD, Nancy (Gene) Gaikowski of Webster, SD, Richard (Barbara) Hormann of Aransas Pass, TX, Cheryl (Rory) Ceroll of Hankinson, ND, and Christine Hormann (David Sundem) of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters Viola Hanson, and Carole Quinn of Sisseton, SD; brother Herbert (Bonnie) Lotz of Pierre, SD; twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Marion; brothers Oliver and Wayne.
