Funeral Service for DorAnn Carol MacConnell, 58 of Veblen, SD will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Veblen, SD with the Rev. Harold Watrous officiating. Organist will be Coleen Halverson and soloist will be Steve Hagenson. Pallbearers will be Philip, Mac, Marty, Clay, Lane and Ty MacConnell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Skylar MacConnell, Tucker Mertens, Phillip Mertens, and Kaiden MacConnell. Interment will be at the Ben and DorAnn Farm. There will be visitation on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Veblen, SD and one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
DorAnn Carol Fisher was born on May 27, 1954 in Britton, SD to Joseph and Bernice (Stenseth-Impecoven) Fisher. She attended school at Hillhead and graduated from Veblen High School. DorAnn was united in marriage to Benjamin MacConnell on May 27, 1972. They made their home in the Hillhead and Veblen area before moving to Colorado in 1978. In 1991 they moved back to the Veblen area. DorAnn attended Sisseton Wahpeton Community College where she received her RN Degree. She worked at Rosholt Care Center and Browns Valley Health Center before her health forced her to retire. She enjoyed photography, fishing, and flowers. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. DorAnn was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Veblen, SD. DorAnn passed away unexpectedly at her home on May 27, 2012.
DorAnn is survived by her husband, Ben of Veblen, SD; four children, Philip and wife, Lisa MacConnell of Veblen, SD, Mac and his wife, Lisa MacConnell of Veblen, SD, Mindy and husband, Phillip Mertens of Veblen, SD and Marty MacConnell and Ashley Fischer of Aberdeen, SD; two brothers, Charlie and wife, Linda Fisher of Harris, MN and Jan Fisher of LaJuanta, Co; two sisters, Doris and husband, Eldean Rein of Veblen, SD and Debra Smykowski of LaJuanta, Co: and sixteen grandchildren.
DorAnn was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Boots Fisher and an infant sibling.
