Funeral Service for Donnella Blackthunder, 75 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church Chapel, Sisseton, SD with Pastor LeRoy Boender officiating. Organist will be Ollie Yost. Pallbearers will be Gary Martenson, Lavoy Todd Kampeska, LaVerne Blackthunder, Jr., Craig Blackthunder, Algin Blackthunder, Trey Slenes, Tyler Slenes and John Turbiville, Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Donnella's relatives, friends, Monday quilter at GLC, TLC, and Milbank Care and Rehab Memory Care staff. Interment will be in St. James' Episcopal Cemetery, Enemy Swim, SD. Visitation will be at Grace Lutheran Church Chapel, on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 6:00 P.M. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Donnella was born on May 24, 1942 in Waubay, SD to Eli and Evangeline (Phelps) Blackthunder. She attended Wahpeton Indian School and the Flandreau Indian School. Donnella was a quilter at the Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing Pokeno and Upwords. Donnella passed away on November 28, 2017 at the Milbank Care and Rehab Center.

Donnella is survived by her children, Randall (Dorothy) Dillard of Lewes, DE, Doreen Birch of Sioux Falls, SD and Deborah Birch of Rhame, ND; grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Tassler of Yuma, AZ, Noah (Lena) Dillard of Newark, DE, Cole Dillard, Evangeline Dillard, Ruby Dillard and May Dillard of Lewes, DE, Trey Slenes, Tyler Slenes and Alissa Slenes of Sioux Falls, SD, Kayla Turbiville of Bowman, ND, John Turbiville and Lena Werth of Rhame, ND; great grandchildren, Miryam Tassler, James Tassler, Josh Tassler and Marlene Tassler; sister Jeanette Sylas of California.

Donnella was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Harry Blackthunder, Lavoy Blackthunder, LaVerne Blackthunder, Sr. and Matthew Bluedog.
