Funeral Services for Donald "Bud" E. Gravdahl, 90 of Grand Forks, ND formerly of Sisseton, SD will be Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. James Wilshusen officiating. Organist will be Mona Greseth. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Don's Family and Friends. Burial will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Visitation will be at the Cahill Funeral Chapel on Saturday from 12 – 2:00 P.M. A Memorial Service will be held in Grand Forks, ND at Calvary Lutheran Church on Monday at 1:00 P.M. where Don was a member.
Donald 'Bud' Eugene Gravdahl, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2015, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Donald was born on March 27, 1925, to John and Hilda (Polnau) Gravdahl near Sisseton. He attended grade school in Sisseton Township and graduated from Sisseton High School. He was in the military from 1946 to 1947 as a US Army Private serving in Japan.
On August 13, 1950, Don married Ramona Ellis at Sisseton in the Presbyterian Church. He farmed three miles north of Sisseton until 1962 when they moved to Rapid City, SD, where he did construction work. The family then moved to Grand Forks in 1964 where Don worked construction and later as a letter carrier for 20 years with the United States Post Office at which time he retired.
After retirement Don started golfing which he enjoyed and talked about often. Gardening was another pastime of Don's, especially his tomato plants in the back yard. Many years he even started plants from seeds in his basement.
Don is survived by his wife, Ramona, of Grand Forks; four sons, Paul (Jeanette) Gravdahl of Sisseton; Vincent (Terri) Gravdahl of Vadnais Heights, MN; Marshall (Becky) Gravdahl of Woodbury, MN; Charles (Mary) Gravdahl of Northwood, ND five grandchildren: Jennifer Gravdahl, Daniel Gravdahl, Peter Gravdahl, Alex Gravdahl, and Pasha Gravdahl; four great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Lauer of Grass Valley, CA.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Charlotte Sandman; one brother Herbert Gravdahl.
