Funeral Service for Donald Leroy German, 92, of Peever, SD will be held on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Peever Community Center, Peever, SD with Rev. Sheila Pohl officiating. Organist will be June Evenson with special music by Donald Backman. Pallbearers will Scott German, Paul German, Terry German, Cole German, Alex German, Hudson German. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Janisch, Truman Nelson, Duane Lewandowski, Calvin Finnesand and all Donald's Friends. Interment will be in the Peever Cemetery, Peever, SD. Visitation will be Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton SD from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Donald was born on June 15, 1928 at Sisseton, SD in Roberts County to Theodore and Anna (Johnson) German. He attended Agency School and grew up on the family farm. At 22 years of age, Donald became the head of the family in July of 1950, due to the loss of both parents. He stayed on the farm to keep the family together.

Donald married Beverly Ann Fonder, November 21, 1950 at Webster, SD. They lived and worked side by side for 43 happy years until Beverly passed away on November 1, 1993. Donald farmed with his wife and their son Raymond, while working to help construct several local community buildings and doing bridge construction. He was accomplished mechanic, carpenter, welder and concrete finisher, but farming was his life's calling and passion. Donald enjoyed music, dancing, hunting, playing cards, and socializing with friends and family. He was baptized and confirmed in the Peever Lutheran Church. Donald was an active member of the community and well-known in the area.  Donald passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Prairie Lakes Healthcare System in Watertown, SD surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his son Raymond (Rita) German of Peever, SD; grandchildren Greg (Nikki) German of Browns Valley, MN, Nancy (Mike) Haggerty of Aberdeen, SD, Daniel (Heather) German of Sioux Falls, SD; as well as eleven great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; brothers Marlin (Karen) German of Watertown, SD and Carroll (Dianne) German of Jacksonville, FL; many nieces, nephews, and special friend Shirley Rolstad.

He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly and infant daughter Rita Kay German; great granddaughter Dani German; brothers Luverne, Vernon Dale, Raymond, and sisters Doris Eggers Wyman, Helen Lahammer, and 2 ^nd wife Ann Lechner German.
