Funeral Service for Dona L. Long, 82, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Family Life Assembly of God Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Robert Beasley and Rev. Vern Donnell officiating. Pianist will be Rachel Lawrence with Special Music by Greg Long, Grayson Long, Grady Long and Irv Slaamot. Pallbearers will be Greg Long, Grayson Long, Grady Long, Lance Crooks, David Hovland and Leon Crooks. Interment will be in the One Road Bethel Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Cahill Funeral Chapel from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Family Life Assembly of God Church, Sisseton, SD with a time of sharing at 6:00 P.M. with family present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Dona L. Long was born on April 30, 1932 in Aberdeen, SD to Leonard and Helen (Behrends) Long. She attended school in Aberdeen and Faith Home at Mitchell, SD. She lived in Aberdeen and worked for Keeley Lumber Company as a Book Keeper, and at Holiday Inn as a night auditor. She moved to Watertown and was a night auditor at a motel. She then made her home in Sisseton. She studied art and auto parts at Sisseton Wahpeton Community College. She also worked at ALCO as a cashier until her retirement where her love for people was on display. Dona was a great story teller who loved to make people laugh.
She was an artistic painter, an accomplished harmonica player, and had a teddy bear figurine collection. She enjoyed playing scrabble, skip-bo and doing cross-word puzzles.
Dona is survived by her sister-in law Linda Long of Woodland, TX; three nephews Greg Long of Conroe, TX; Grayson Long of Watford City, ND; Grady Long of Pharr, TX; eleven great nieces and nephews.
Dona is preceded in death by her parents and one brother Rev. Curtis Long.
