Funeral Service for Diane Lea Currence, 65, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Patrick Jenkins officiating. Organist will be Ollie Yost and Soloist will be Sandi Jaspers. Pallbearers will be Mitch Bodin, Rory Iverson, Jon Goeson, Neal Nelson, Travis Ceroll and Alan Waletich. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Visitation will be at Cahill Funeral Chapel on Sunday, January 14 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Diane Lea Skjonsberg was born in Sisseton, SD on November 14, 1952 to Burton & Jeanette (Martinson) Skjonsberg. She was baptized into the Lutheran Faith. She attended school at Sisseton and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1971. Diane married Michael Currence on September 21, 1974 at Sisseton, SD. They made their home at the Mouw Trailer Park in Sisseton until they moved into their new home south of Sisseton in 1986. To this union two children were born. Diane worked as a carhop at A&W, Stavig Bros Department Store, Roberts County Treasurer, Ben-Sur Feed Store and Sisseton Flower Shop over the years. Diane enjoyed going to rummage sales, auction sales, and antique stores. She was a true animal lover, always adopting any and every stray dog or cat that came along. She had a most generous and giving nature. Material items were not important to her. For Diane, the joy was in the journey. Diane passed away peacefully on January 9, 2018.

Diane is survived by her husband, Michael of Sisseton, a son Scott & his wife Linda Currence of Hayti, SD and her pride & joy "Auggie Doggie".

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Lea, and her parents Burton & Jeanette Skjonsberg.
