Funeral Service for Derek Troy Bagola, 56, of Peever SD will be held on Friday, April 5,2024 at Big Coulee District Center, Peever, SD at 2:00 P.M. with Gerald Heminger Jr. CRE officiating. The pianist will be Billy Kohl. Pall bearers will be Thurston Owen, Malacahi Owen, Shiloh Bagola, Harold Bernard, Josh Johnson, Jesse Kitto and Daniel Greeley. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Mario Bagola, Jeremy Lowe, Lorne Lowe, Lawrence Lowe Jr., Paula Dillion, Laura Bagola, Kelly Owen, Mary Shaw, Delmar Bernard, Valentino Bagola, Michelle Seaboy, and Crystal Owen. The Drum Group will be Bernard Boys. Interment will be in the Ascension Presbyterian Cemetery, Peever SD. There will be an all-night Wake Service on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 7:00 P.M. at the Big Coulee District Center. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Derek was born on July 31,1967 in Sisseton SD to George James and Juanita Mae (Owen) Bagola. He attended school at Sisseton, SD and Marty Boarding School. He received his GED. Following his education, he returned to the Agency Village and Summit area. He stayed with his mother and helped babysitting. He worked for a time at Dakota Sioux Casino as a blackjack dealer. He liked watching music videos, wrestling and dinosaurs on TV. He enjoyed drawing and doing arts and crafts. He liked Marilyn Monroe and Paula Abdul. Derek passed away on April 1, 2024, at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital, Sisseton, SD.

Derek is survived by his sister, Stephanie Bagola of Sisseton, SD; three aunts Jackie Lowe of Summit, Kathy White of Sisseton, and Sharyn Renville of Eden; numerous grandchildren and a niece Gabrielle Bagola of Agency Village, SD.

Derek was preceded in death by his parents, George and Juanita (Owen) Bagola, one brother Justin Bagola Sr., and his paternal grandparents Rubin and Florence (Keeble) Bagola and maternal grandparents Gordon and Florine (Feather) Owen.
