Delbert Louis Pumpkinseed, 68, of Sisseton, South Dakota passed away on October 10, 2022 at Avantara Nursing Home, Milbank, SD surrounded by his family. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with Spiritual Leaders Chaske Hill and Fr. Conrad Ciesel officiating. Drum Group will be Long Elk. Pallbearers will be Harley Spider, Gabe DuMarce, Gabe Rodlund, Chris Feather, Robert White Thunder, Mike Iyarpeya, Daniel Shepherd, and Cody DuMarce. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Delbert was born on February 5, 1954 at Sisseton, South Dakota to Louis Pumpkinseed and Ethel Williams Baker. In Blue's younger days, he traveled back and forth between Sisseton and Sharp's Corner. He attended Porcupine Day School and Wilmot Elementary. Delbert was a fluent Dakota/Lakota speaker and worked in various places teaching the language. He liked spending time at the Dakota Connection Casino and joked with everyone. Blue worked at the Dakota Pride Treatment Center and became a sponsor to many. When he was younger, Delbert liked breaking horses and fixing cars. He had participated in the Dakota 38 ride until his health failed. His disability didn't stop him from anything. Delbert loved spending time with his grandkids. He was one of a kind.

Delbert is survived by his two daughters; Jolene and Corrine, two sons; Matthew and Randall, one Hunka daughter; Desiree Eagle, two Hunka son's; Brian and Moses Rodlund, three sisters; Stephanie, Kathy and Jenny, three uncles; Ron Dumarce, Irvin Dumarce, Harvey Dumarce, Cousins; Marty White Thunder and Cindy White Thunder, Aunt; Arlene Spider, fourteen grandchildren; Angel, Cass(Cupcakes), Chase, Shane, Wiley, Tehinda, Mahpiya, DeMarques, Colter, Avante (Tiny Baby), Kateri, Moses, Gabby, Tristan, Owen, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Delbert is preceded in death by his parents; Louis Pumpkinseed and Ethel Williams Baker, two brothers; Lyle and Patrick Pumpkinseed, one sister; Donna Pumpkinseed, grandmother; Lillian DuMarce, and granddaughter Elizabeth Alberts.
