Debbie was born in Sisseton, SD on March 1, 1950 to Magnus and Alvina (Schlekeway) Iverson. She was #8 of their 9 children. Debbie was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church in Marshall County.
Debbie attended elementary school at Red Iron Lake #2 country school followed by her high school years in Sisseton, graduating with the Class of 1968. She furthered her education by attending and graduating with a business degree from Aberdeen School of Commerce.
Debbie moved to the Twin Cities and worked at the University of Minnesota for over three decades. She first worked in the medical school department of continuing education, then she moved to the Board of Regents office and finally, for over 20 years, she worked at the U of M Foundation. She became a huge fan of Gopher women's basketball.
For many years, Debbie was the family's unofficial photographer at every family function even though she avoided being in any pictures herself. Debbie would also send monthly emails listing all the family birthdays for that month as she felt they were important. She was also very interested in the family genealogy and would happily update anyone who cared to listen.
After Debbie's retirement from the U of M, she fulfilled her lifetime dream to build a house and live by Buffalo Lake "where the Iverson's roam," which she did for 10 years. It became her happy place where she was able to fish from her dock, plant flowers and vegetable gardens and to watch the birds at her birdfeeder--and curse the squirrels. She also liked to indulge in what she called her "therapy" by visiting the local casino.
Debbie wanted family members to stay in touch so she would organize a family potluck picnic in her yard at Buffalo Lake every August to unofficially celebrate her mom's August 4th birthday.
Debbie also enjoyed playing whist with her fellow card players both in Eden and at Buffalo Lake Restaurant where she was a frequent visitor.
Debbie passed away on May 28, 2022 at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND surrounded by family.
Debbie is survived by two sisters Erla Steiner of Sisseton, SD and Shirley (Gordon L.) Peterson of Sisseton, SD, two sister-in-laws Betty Iverson of Sisseton, SD and Mary Ann Iverson of Claire City, SD. and many nieces and nephews.
Debbie is preceded by her parents, Brothers; Royce Iverson, Robert Iverson, Lynn Iverson and sister-in-law, MaryGayle Iverson, Willis Iverson and Dennis Iverson.
