Obituary

Memorial Service for Dean Leonard Lotzer, 81 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 2:30 P.M. at Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD with Pastor Sheila Pohl officiating. Organist will be Amy Currence. The Urn bearer will be Dean's grandson Peirce Steffen. There will be a Visitation one hour prior to the Funeral Service at the Cahill Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will be held in Mosinee, WI at a later date. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Dean was born on June 28, 1940 to Leonard and Maxine (Haak) Lotzer in Sisseton, S.D. Dean's lifelong trucking career began at a young age, 16-17 yrs old, when he started driving for Clinton Dahl, the owner of Lake Region Trucking. He later worked for Erickson Grain Belt. On May 28, 1964 he was united in marriage to Joan Schultz at the St. Peter's Catholic Church in Sisseton, S.D. A short time later, they moved to Seattle, WA where Dean was employed by Sunny Jim Trucking Company driving semi in the Seattle area, along the Oregon Coast and sometimes into California and back to Seattle. Later, they moved to Mosinee, WI where Dean drove semi again for Land O Lakes and CHS. At the end of his retirement, he was extremely proud of his 30 Year accident free record and many safe driving awards, which included well over 2 million miles of travel. Dean was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and attended numerous games in WI. In his retirement in SD he looked forward to driving for fall harvest (back in the semi seat again) driving for Dan and Kris Nigg for 11 years. Dean and Jeannine enjoyed many bus trips, car travels, fishing, and shooting gophers together. He loved to visit and never met a stranger. Dean was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was very excited to have recently been told he was going to be a great grandfather for the first time. Dean Lotzer, 81 of Sisseton, S.D passed away on December 31, 2021 at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital after a 3 year long battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Dean is survived by his two daughters, Andrea (Mark) Reede of Kronenwetter, WI and Nicole Steffen of Edgar, WI. Grandchildren: Paige (Phoenix) Manderfield, Pierce, Payton, Prentis Steffen, Samantha, Lilly, John and Ella Reede are of WI. Sibling are: Dale (Ginny) Lotzer of St. Paul, MN, Shirley Svendsen of Annandale, MN, Dennis (Desi) Lotzer of Hutchinson, MN, Donna (Roger) Juncewski of Howard Lake, MN, Dan (Kathy) Lotzer of Litchfield, MN. Brother- in-laws Neil Hipp of Breckenridge, MN and Richard (Lori) Schultz of Helena, MT. Sister-in-law Gloria Richardt of Wausau, WI. Also many friends, nieces, nephews, and special friend Jeannine Gerber.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joan of 46 years, sister Karen Hipp, brother-in-law Don Richardt.
