Funeral Mass for David William Karst, 59 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Fr. Norman Volk, OMI Celebrant. Organist will be Colette Hull and song leader will be Sandi Jaspers. Pallbearers will be Bobby Horton, Jeff Currence, Lynn Nigg, Kevin Medenwald, Joey George, and Paul Karst. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of David's fishing and card playing buddies. Interment will be in the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Monday, August 30, 2010 from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, and from 6:00 to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at St. Peter's Catholic Church, and Tuesday, one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. David William Karst was born on November 12, 1950 in Sisseton, SD to Joseph and Lois (Herniman) Karst. David attended country school and Sisseton High School. Following his education David moved to Minneapolis and worked for Bell Telephone Company. David was united in marriage to Donna Waletich on August 28, 1971 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eden, South Dakota. They lived in the Peever and Eden area before moving to Idaho where he worked in the mines. They returned to the Sisseton area where he ranched and worked various jobs. David was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. David enjoyed fishing and playing cards. David passed away on August 28, 2010 rural Sisseton while feeding his cattle.
David is survived by two sons, Jason Karst and special friend, Diane of Sisseton, SD and Jacob and wife, Nikki Karst of Watertown, SD; one daughter-in-law, Kelli Karst of Sisseton, SD; four grandchildren, his mother, Lois Karst of Sisseton, SD; five brothers, Frank and wife, Cheryl Karst of Sisseton, SD, Gary Karst of Waseca, MN, Douglas and wife, Marlene Karst of Sisseton, SD, Gregory Karst of Sisseton, SD, and James Karst of Waubay, SD.
David was preceded in death by one son, David Christopher Karst, his father, Joseph Karst, one brother, Kevin Karst and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
