Funeral Service for David Anthony Farmer, 35 of Agency Village, SD will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 12:00 P.M. at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village. Officiating will be Rev. Enright Bighorn, Rev. Danelle McKinney, Rev. Steven A Farmer Sr., JC Crawford, and Spiritual Leaders Mitchell "Chiefie" Parker and Kenny Farmer. Pianist will be Billy Kohl and special music will be by Brian Akipa and Butch Felix. Drum Group will be Omaha Whitetail and Bear Nation. Pallbearers will be Michael Selvage Jr., Tilmer Selvage, Brandon Shepherd, Eric DuMarce, Seth Eastman, Conrad Brown, Bruce German, and Adam Backer. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of David's Family and KODA'S, all Hunka Relative from the four directions, all of the Sundancers, Traditional Dancer, Flute Players and 38 + 2 Riders. Interment will be in the Goodwill Presbyterian Cemetery, Agency Village, SD. There will be all night Wake Services at the Tribal Community Center on Thursday and Friday at 7:00 PM. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
David was born on January 15, 1978 to Timothy Allan Grant and Karen Farmer-Hill. He attended school at Tiospa Zina Tribal School graduating in 1997. Following high school in attended Sisseton Wahpeton Community college for two years and one year at Cook Christian Training School in Tempe, AZ. Following his education he worked at Dakota Magic, Dakota Sioux and Dakota Connection. He was a very good mechanic. He loved being with his children and teaching them the traditional ways, horseback riding, horseshoes, fishing, hunting, the outdoors, traveling, composing songs, singing, and guitar playing. He practiced his traditional ways and was a Traditional Dancer. He was an Elder of Goodwill Presbyterian Church. He loved spending time with family, he loved his nieces and nephews, and he had many adopted brothers and sisters. His God Parents were Edwane and Abigail Crawford. David passed away on June 10, 2013 at Fairview Hospital-University Campus, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
David is survived by his father, Timothy Allan Grant of Macy, NE; his mother, Karen Farmer-Hill of Sisseton, SD; and his mother, Lisa Kay Farmer of Shakopee, MN; three children, Mahpiya Inajin- Win Farmer of Peever, SD, Mongecha Farmer of Peever, SD and Tuka Eastman of Peever, SD five brothers, Jesse James Harwood of Kansas, Dallas Lee Farmer of Agency Village, SD, Anthony James Grant, Macy, NE, Bradford Grant of Macy, NE, and Renard Grant of Macy, NE; one sister, Kasey Lynn Grant of Macy, NE and adopted sister Lorene Brant-Clark of Toppanish, WA; his grandmother, Kay Bursheim of Agency Village, and his grandfather, Rev. Steve Farmer Sr. of Twin Butte, ND; and many adopted brothers and sisters.
David was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Valentine and Winifred Parker; Grandfather Kenneth Bursheim Sr; two Uncles Leslie Kyle Farmer and Mark Grant, one aunt, Janet Sheridan, and a adopted brother, Jared Goodsell.
