Obituary

Celebration of Life Service for Darlyne D Brown, 89 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grace Lutheran Chapel, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Herbert Wounded Head officiating. Pianist will be Estelle Pearson. Urn Bearers will be Kevin and Justin Ballhagen. Honorary Urn Bearers will be great grandchildren and friends. Inurnment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD at a later date. There will be visitation at Grace Lutheran Chapel one hour prior to the service. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Darlyne was born April 24, 1932 near Peever, SD to Lewey and Louise (Simon) Foell. She grew up and attended some country School, some school in Ontario, California, where her father worked winters at defense plants during WWII. She graduated from Sisseton High School in 1950. Darlyne married the love of her life, Orville Brown on June 10, 1950 at Britton SD.  The couple farmed west of Peever, SD milking cows and raising beef cattle and sheep.  Darlyne was a homemaker all her life.  She enjoyed playing cards, fishing with Orville, and most of all they loved to dance.  If there was a dance you could find them there.  They sold the farm in 1979 and moved to Sisseton where they lived on 8th Ave East for 32 years, until moving to and apartment where she lived until July of 2019, when poor health caused her to move to Edgewood Assisted Living until October. She broke her hip and was admitted to the Wilmot Care Center for recovery, where she passed away November 1, 2021.

Darlyne is survived by her daughter Gayle Ballhagen of Beardsley, MN; her brother Darrell Foell and wife Shirley of Watertown SD, brother-in-law Calvin Brown and wife Nyra of Watertown, SD; two Grandsons Kevin Ballhagen and wife Sara of Wheaton, MN and Justin Ballhagen of Beardsley, MN; four great grandchildren Austin, Blake, Lexi and Matthew and many nieces and nephews

Darlyne was preceded in death by her husband, parents. Son-in-law Dean Ballhagen.
