On Monday, November 23rd, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., Mahpiya Waste Win will be moved from Cahill's Funeral Chapel to Buffalo Lake District Center. Traditional services and wake will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday by Arnold Williams and Louie Johnson. Funeral services will start on Wednesday, November 25th, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Buffalo Lake District and move to the Buffalo Lake Cemetery her final resting place.

Honorary Pallbearers are: Annie Felix, Linda Crawford, Marie Renville, Phyllis Roberts, Sherry Johnson, Gina Motah, Maria DeCoteau, Myra Taylor, Lolita Seaboy, Evelyn Pilcher, Peggy King, Carole Crawford, Wanda Johnson, Cynthia Starr, Olivia Eastman, Cynthia Lindquist and all of the Sundancers and Pte Cante Win.
Darlene Joyce King, Mahpiya Waste Win (Good Cloud Woman), traveled to the Spirit World on the late afternoon of November 21, 2015, after a wonderful dinner and an afternoon of playing bingo with family and friends at the Buffalo Lake District Center.
Darlene was born on December 26th, 1939 in Sisseton, South Dakota to Jesse King and Blanche King (Hill). Darlene's maternal grandparents were Elizabeth Plume and John Hill. Her paternal grandparents Sam King and Martha Bear.
Darlene loved to travel and visit with people. She had strong beliefs for her Dakota cultural and traditional ways and could be found at Powwows, Inipi, Sundances and Ceremony. Darlene sundanced for many years at the Buffalo Lake Sundance and supported many other Sundances. She had a warm and generous spirit and was always giving things to others and helping others. She liked to go to Bingo and the Casino and had fun visiting everyone. She readily laughed and was loved by all. She was lovingly called "Goose" by many, as she always knew what everyone else was doing, but when you asked her Pasha was the real "Goose".
Darlene raised a special granddaughter Elaine and her grandson Brandon Harwood and loved to talk about her great grandson's Tracer and Sterling. She attended as many of their football and basketball games and wrestling matches as she could. She was especially proud of her granddaughters' for their strength to carry the pipe.
In her early years, Darlene attended school and went on to earn her GED. Darlene next started at the Sisseton-Wahpeton College in the teacher education program. She loved working with children and was a Para-Educator at Tiospa Zina Tribal School for many years. She worked at Little Voices group home and at Enemy Swim Day School. She worked with the Elderly Program and helped with many elders across the Reservation. She liked to keep busy and recently she could be found working at the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate administration building in the gift shop and café. She was very active in the Pte Cante Winyan Okodakiciye and helped thousands of our relatives come home to their final resting place.
Darlene is survived by her sisters: Barbara King of Agency Village, SD, Carole Iron Moccasin of Sisseton, SD, and Pauline Kipp of Granite Falls, MN, and hunka brother John Eagle, hunka sons Roy Bisson, and Carlos Cruz, Jr, and her daughter, Darla (Duane)King, Sisseton, SD and her hunka daughter Sherry Johnson of Eden, SD. She is survived by seven grandchildren: Elaine King (Matt), Brandon Harwood, Nadine LaBelle (Jack), Kayline LaBelle (Justin), Duane LaBelle Jr. (Buffy), Michaeline LaBelle (Galen), Shayline LaBelle, twenty Great Grandchildren and many hunka grandchildren and great grandchildren.
