Funeral Mass for Darla Jean George, 79, Frankfort, SD and formerly of Sisseton, SD will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Jerry Ranek and Rev. Fr. Brian Simon Celebrants. Organist will be Colette Hull and song leader will be Sandi Jaspers. Pallbearers will be Robert Brown, Tony Lohre, Dean George, Virgil George, Kenneth Cordie, and Kenneth Olson. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Darla's Family and Friends. Interment will be in the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel and at St. Peter's Catholic Church from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:30 P.M. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Darla Jean Brown was born on July 15, 1937 in Sisseton, SD to Glen and Eunice (Dockter) Brown. She grew up in the Sisseton area and attended country school, graduating from Sisseton High School in 1955. Darla was united in marriage to Cletus George on May 22, 1956 at St. Peter's Catholic Church and St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church. Darla worked at Landsbergers, Brothers Three, Valley View County Club, Lakeland Lanes, and Gunners Pub. Darla and Cletus enjoyed selling Watkins, making and selling crafts. She raised her family and helped on the ranch with haying and the animals. Darla liked to sew, can, bake, play bingo, play cards, gardening, and fishing. She loved her family and animals. She was known for her homemade bread and egg noodles. Darla was a member of St Peter's Catholic Church and was involved in the church. She also liked to make people laugh. Darla passed away on June 21, 2017 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD.
Darla is survived by her husband, Cletus of Frankfort, SD; six children, Daniel George of Colorado, DeeAnna Tempel of Westport, SD, Glen George of Rapid City, SD, Sharla George of Frankfort, SD, Robert and Lisa George of South Dakota, and David George of Sisseton, SD; two sisters, Devra and Joe Stapleton of Manteca, CA and Diann George of Brandon, SD; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Darla was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Eunice Brown; one son, Darren; one granddaughter Taylor and three brothers, Stanley, Gordon and Donald Brown.
