Memorial services for Daniel LeRoy Cooper, 68, of Summit, SD will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Christian Outreach Center in Sisseton, SD with Rev. Vern Donnell and Pastor Kirk Snaza officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Daniel J. Cooper, Richard H. Cooper, Patrick D. Cooper, Brian E. Cooper, Alan E. Simon, Cody R. Cooper, and Robert J. Cooper. There will be a spring interment in the St. Matthews Catholic Cemetery, Veblen, SD. Daniel LeRoy Cooper was born on June 24, 1944 in St. Paul, MN to Richard and Gladys (Copley) Cooper. He grew up and attended school in St. Paul. After his education Dan worked for Gold National Battery Company, Kospers Coke Inc., Dennie's Roofing, and Pearson's Candy Company. Daniel was married to Doris Halbert at Des Moines, IA on September 24, 1965. In 1998 the couple retired and moved to Veblen, SD. They also lived in Sisseton, SD before moving to Summit, SD. Dan liked to fix things around the house. He liked music, playing cribbage, rummaging, and going to the casinos. He also liked to watch football and root for the Vikings. Daniel loved his grandchildren, and reading the bible. Dan passed away suddenly on February 8, 2013 at Avera McKennon Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Daniel is survived by his wife Doris of Summit, SD; four sons, Daniel J. Cooper of Summit, SD, Richard H. Cooper of Sisseton, SD, Patrick D. Cooper and Brian E. Cooper of Summit, SD; thirteen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, and his mother and father-in-law Alvina and Henry Halbert.
