Daniel J. Ybarra-Ackerman, 63, of Peever, SD passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at his residence.  Funeral Services for Daniel will be Monday, June 25, 2018 starting at 2:00 P.M. at Big Coulee District Center.  All night wake services will be Saturday, June 23, and Sunday, June 24, both starting at 7:00 P.M. at the Big Coulee District Center. Interment will be at Ascension Presbyterian Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Jr. Heminger.  Pallbearers will be Ron Kirk, Daryen Ackerman, Mike Jensen, Avery Heminger, DJ Ackerman, Jacob Barse, Stanley Barse Jr., Tracy Heminger.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Les Barse Sr., Bill Owen, Roy Daniels, Virgil Runnings, Mary Beth Kirk, Rona Williams, Ruth Iyahpeya, Mauri Thompson, Larry Rich, Maurice Spider, Stephanie Redearth, Kaleb, Andre, Albert, Avery, Wi'iyoyanpa Heminger, Daniel's Family and Friends, Nathan Thompson,Jake Thompson, Hazen Lamer.

Daniel Jerome Ybarra-Ackerman was born on December 3, 1955 in Portland, Oregon to Dorothy Oneroad and Faustino Ybarra. He grew up in Wilmot, SD and Portland, Oregon where he attended school. Dan joined the US Marine Corps in February of 1973 during the Vietnam Era at the age of 17. At that time his mother was required to sign for him to enlist. Dan attended school in Portland, Oregon and Wilmot, South Dakota. Dan was an avid hunter and fisherman; he enjoyed gardening and spending time with Mother Nature. Dan was a kind hearted person and would help anyone who asked. He was knowledgeable about so many things; he had a great repoire with children, which was truly an amazing gift. Ask any child who knew him. Dan was known for his sense of humor. Everywhere he went, he had a joke or a well thought out piece of advice, either he learned it from a life experience or something he read. He enjoyed spending time with his family, daughter, son and his brother Tracy (Wong) Heminger and his wife Leslie's children. He was godfather to Sunshine and Kaleb Heminger. He was a Vikings fan.

He is survived by two children, his daughter Hannah; son Daniel Jacob (DJ); one grandson Daryen; a granddaughter Destiny; great grandson Zayden; Family; Tracy (Wong), Leslie and their children; Brothers David and Roger; sisters Dianne, Dana, Dawn and Dori; many nieces and nephews. Dan will be missed by those who were lucky enough to know him; his sense of humor, gentle spirit, and kind heart will never be forgotten.

Proceeded in death by his Mother; uncles Corky and Keemo Oneroad; aunt Arlene Oneraod.
