Celebration of Life Service for Dana Lee (Johnson) Aas, 44, of Watertown, SD, formerly of Sisseton, SD will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Joshua Knudsen officiating. Organist will be Michelle Greseth. Soloist will be Rev. Pat Schubert. Urn Bearer will be Kaye Cahill. Honorary Urn Bearers will be Dana's friends and cousins. Inurnment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD, following the luncheon. There will be visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Dana was born on December 19, 1980, in Huron, SD to Kelly and Alisha (Nolz) Johnson. Garnette and Richard adopted Dana in 1984 at the age of four. Dana was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD. Dana attended school in Sisseton, Aberdeen, and Redfield. He lived in Minnesota, Sisseton, SD, and then moved to Watertown, SD where he resided until his death. For a while, Dana volunteered at the Salvation Army. He enjoyed watching the Jack Rabbits and Minnesota Vikings, enjoyed drinking Mt. Dew, spending time with his cat Clyde, and talking with family. Dana called his mother every night and often called during family gatherings on holidays where the phone would be passed to each person. Dana also called Veterans on Veterans Day. Dana passed away on November 24, 2025, at his home in Watertown, SD.
Dana is survived by his mother Garnette Aas of Sisseton, SD; stepson Maysen Klienschmidt of Beardsley, MN; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Dana is preceded in death by his father Richard Aas; sister Lisa Aas; grandparents Magnus and Agnes Tasa, Doris and Elmer Aas, and Rosalie Aas; biological father Kelly Johnson; biological mother Alisha (Nolz) Johnson-Tomasek; and cousin John Hannasch.
