Curtis was born on May 19, 1936 in Aberdeen, SD to Leonard and Helen (Behrends) Long. Curtis graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1954. He drove truck for the Keebler Company, and tales said he ate up all their profits. Curtis joined the United States Army and served from August 1957 to August 1960, and he received the Good Conduct Medal. Curtis was united in marriage to Linda Hovland in Aberdeen, SD on June 19, 1965. At the age of 14, Curtis felt a call from God
to the ministry, and following his return from the military, he committed his life to Jesus and that call. He graduated from Trinity Bible College, Ellendale, ND, in 1967 and was ordained as an Assemblies of God Minister. He traveled in full time evangelistic ministry across the United States, since that year, with his wife and three sons spreading the Gospel which is The Good News that Jesus Christ died so that we may live. Photography was his greatest side line, and in the later years drawing and making cards. He was always making people smile and laugh. Singing also was his passion. He was so proud of his sons and grandchildren. He was diagnosed with lung cancer at Florida Hospital, Orlando on November 19, 2009, and after a long and fullfilling life, passed away on February 7, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital, The Woodlands, TX.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Linda Long of Sisseton, SD; his three sons, Greg and his family of Conroe, TX, Grayson and his family of Mobile, AL, and Grady and his family of McAllen, TX; eight grandchildren with two more on the way; and one sister, Dona Long of Sisseton, SD.
