Funeral Service for Constance Joan "Connie" Moen, 68, Paynesville, MN formerly of Sisseton, SD will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. William Schruba officiating. Organist will be Mona Greseth and soloist Lori Moen. Pallbearers will be Mike Moen, Clayton Moen, Ron Moen, Rick Moen, Mark Moen, Casey Pederson, and Edward "Skipper" Moen. Interment will be at One Road Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Cahill Funeral Chapel Sisseton, SD and one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Monday. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD is in charge of the arrangements.

Connie was born on September 1, 1945 in Sisseton, SD to Midel and Josephine (Grinde) Moen. She grew up with six brothers and a sister on a farm in Drywood Township. The family moved into Sisseton in 1956 where Connie attended and graduated High School. Connie married Richard Vig in 1963 in Warrensburg, MO. Due to Richard's job with Boeing, they moved several times throughout the Midwest and settled back on the farm near Claire City, SD. They had four children together. She worked hard on the farm in every sense of the word; be it raising her kids, driving the tractors, bringing lunch to the fields, or milking the cows. She also volunteered with 4-H in Roberts County. Connie moved to Sisseton in 1985 to be close to family and friends. She lived next door to her parents and helped them with garage sales on the weekends. She volunteered with the girl scouts and loved watching David play football. Connie worked for a time as a Certified Nurse's Aide at Tekakwitha Nursing Home. She worked for Sisseton Housing as a secretary and retired in 2011. She loved the people that she got to help everyday and all of the friends that she made at the high rise. She loved meeting at Billy's for a hamburger at lunchtime and the only thing better was a hot cup of coffee, a slim cigarette and a piece of fudge or a bar for desert. Connie loved to travel and found beauty everywhere that she went. Whether it was the butterflies in Costa Rica, the sunsets in Hawaii, the beach in Florida, the Arch in St. Louis, or the buffalos in the Badlands; she was happy wherever she was and found joy in those around her. It didn't matter to her that her cat's tail was half gone and his ear was frozen off, he was her "kitty" and special because God had made him. She spent summers on Red Iron Lake at her cabin and enjoyed every possible minute outdoors. Connie moved to Paynesville, MN in 2011. She lived next door to her son, David, and wife, Kaye and their two children. She loved campfires in the backyard with her grandkids and having their dog Cindy for company. She enjoyed family holidays; this last Christmas was truly special because everyone was together. Connie was diagnosed with lung cancer in January of this year. Her son, Dan, left Florida to stay by her side and care for her, so she could stay in her home. Friends and relatives drove to visit and called often. After only two months, she passed away March 11, 2014. She was truly loved and will be missed by all those who knew her.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents, two grand-sons Jesse Johnson and John Vig, her brother Clayton, and niece, Leisha. She is survived by her four children: (daughter) Dawn & David Johnson, of Alexandria, and their children Tyesha, Blake and Amanda; (son) Daniel Vig, of Hollywood, FL; (son) David and Kaye Vig, of Paynesville, and their children Ella and Elias; (daughter) Dana Vig and Dustin Gould, and their children Sean and Matthew Gould. She is also survived by five brothers: Maynard and Sharon Moen, Arden and Carol Moen, Edward and Pauletta Moen, Larry and Marge Moen, Ray Moen; and one sister, Elaine Pederson, along with her God son Mike Moen, many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
