Funeral Service for Clifford A. Benson Jr., 82, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. William Schruba officiating. Organist will be Mona Greseth and soloist will be
Pat Schubert. Pallbearers will be Arnie Benson, Dean Benson, Dale Benson, Todd Anderson, Terry Peterson and Ron Renelt. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Clifford's Friends & Neighbors. Interment will be in the Goodwill Cemetery, Sisseton, SD with Military Rites by the Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post # 50 and Fort Sisseton VFW Post #3342. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, and one hour prior to the funeral at the Church on Thursday.
Clifford Arnold Benson Jr. was born on October 30, 1930 in Webster, SD to Clifford and Mary (Wilson) Benson Sr. Clifford served in the United States Army from July 1954 to June 1956, serving as a medic stationed in Germany. He received the National Defense Service medal, Army of Occupation medal (Germany), and the Good Conduct medal for his service. Clifford lived his entire life on the home farm in rural Sisseton, SD. Clifford was united in marriage to Gail Richardt at Graceville, MN on September 28, 1957. To this union one son, David was born. Clifford served as treasurer of Goodwill Township for thirty five years. He enjoyed restoring old cars and tractors. He also liked to garden. Clifford passed away peacefully at his home and was joined with the Lord on July 19, 2013.
Clifford is survived by his wife, Gail of Sisseton, SD; one son David and wife Tara of Battle Lake, MN; one granddaughter, Alyssa and husband, Caleb Reuer of Chicago, Ill.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents and maternal and paternal grandparents.
