Funeral Service for Clayton Robert "Lovey" Small, 58, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Hall with the Pastor Jim Bird officiating. Pianist will be Kay Bursheim. Pallbearers will be Carson LaBatte, Sr., Terry Haug, Jr., Buddy Bird, Sr., Clinton Small, Andrew Larvie, Jr., Douglas Flute, Floyd Cloud Jr. and Todd Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be All of Clayton' Friends, Relatives, and Co-Workers at IHS in Sisseton. There will be Wake Services on Tuesday and Wednesday, at 7:00 with Wednesday's wake an all night wake, at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Hall in Sisseton, SD. Interment will be in the St. Matthews Catholic Cemetery, Veblen, SD. The Cahill Funeral chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Clayton Robert Small was born on August 19, 1957 in Poplar, Montana to Sylvester and Gladys (Ortley) Small. He attended school at Baltic, SD. He graduated and received his degree in Heavy Equipment in Phoenix, AZ. Clayton liked to play bingo, slot machines, go to Pow-Wows and listen to Pow-Wow music and watch football. He, also, liked NASCAR racing, His favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. He liked to fish. He was a fire fighter in Montana. He worked at Indian Health Service in Montana, Arizona and Sisseton, SD. He also worked at various casinos in SD, ND, and AZ. Clayton was a caring person and willing to help out anyone in need. In his younger years, he loved spending time with his brothers, sisters and cousins in Big Coulee playing various games. Clayton passed away on November 1, 2015 at Sanford Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD.
Clayton is survived by his companion of thirty years, Bertha Greeley of Sisseton, SD his children, Vonnie Small, Catherine and Austin Small of Arizona; and several grandchildren, his siblings, Sharon and John Nerison of New Effington, SD, Beverly and Andrew Larvie, Sr. of Mission, SD, Francine Hayes, Frederick Small and Curtis Small of Sisseton, S.D., Theodore Small of Phoenix, AZ and many nieces and nephews.
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Sylvia
Small Newman, and Doris Small Redday; and three brothers, Gary Small, John Ortley, and Gerald Small, and Kunshi Lizzie Alexis Small.
