Clayton Aaron Anderson, 93, Veblen, died April 2, 2009, at a nursing home in Sisseton, SD. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 2 P.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Veblen with the Rev. Harold Watrous officiating. There will be visitation on Friday, April 10, 2009 from 2:00 to 7:00P.M., with a family sharing time at 7:00 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel. There will be visitation on Saturday, one hour prior to services at the church. Organist will be Karen Hornseth and vocalist will be Coleen Halverson. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Clayton Halverson, James S. Halverson, Ryan Anderson, Mark Anderson, Joe Anderson, and Andy Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Anderson, Vernal (Bud) Donnell, Basil Robertson, Gary Tyler, Ardean (Beans) Twite, John Manning, and Topper LaCroix.
Clayton was born March 22, 1916, to Elmer and Emma (Gustafson) Anderson in Veblen. He married Alice Akre in 1935 and farmed in the Veblen area until 1979. Clayton and Alice were married for 71 years. Clayton was a great sports fan, especially baseball and basketball. He owned many different breeds of dogs in his lifetime, but was especially fond of hounds. He went on many fox and coyote hunts and was known far and wide for his excellent line of fox hounds. Clayton was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice, his parents, two sisters, one daughter, and two grandsons. Clayton is survived by six children: Aaron (Joan) Anderson, Veblen; Jim (Judy) Anderson, Las Vegas, NV; Jon (Mary) Anderson, Eden Prairie, MN; Barbara Kromer, Sisseton; Virginia Hilleson, Fayetteville, NC; Carol (Mike) Johnson, Vancouver, WA; and one son-in-law, Curt Ebel, Vancouver, WA, 20 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and four great, great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends
