Funeral Mass for Cheri Ann George, 47 of Eau Claire, WI will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Fr. Daniel Smith Celebrant. Organist will be Colette Hull and song leader will be Sandi Jaspers. Pallbearers will be Roger George, Joe George, Dean George, Michael Carlson, Dan Carlson, and Ron Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Cheri's Family and Friends. Interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Cahill Funeral Chapel from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., then at St. Peter's Catholic Church from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Cheri Ann George was born Thursday, July 25, 1968 at Milbank, SD to Russell & Hazel George. She was baptized at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD. Cheri was confirmed in St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church in New Brighton, MN. Cheri had a close relationship with her brother, Chris George. She was a proud aunt of Christopher and Lillian George. Cheri attended grade school in New Brighton, MN and Watertown, SD and was a graduate of Watertown High School. She attended Lake Area Votech where she received a Business Associate degree. Cheri worked as a bookkeeper for many years before she moved to Eau Claire, WI where she started work as a sales consultant for Card Payment Solutions and continued with them until she passed away. Cheri was married to Steven Luken from 1985 to 1989. They had two children, Jeremy Luken (Camille Hawkins) and Jessica Johnson (Matthew Johnson). Cheri had another son, Justin Stanek in the year 2000. Cheri was a proud grandmother of Joseph Hawkins-Luken, Calysta Hawkins-Luken, Taelor Hawkins-Luken, and Jackson Sommer. On July 30th, 2015 Cheri married Lynn Thompson. Lynn Thompson has two children, Zach and Tyler Thompson, of whom Cheri was very fond. Cheri was outgoing and along with her love for music, she enjoyed camping, fishing, spending time at lake resorts with friends and family. Cheri had a very contagious laughter and a wonderful sense of humor that was cherished by many. Cheri Ann George (age 47) passed away while surrounded by her family and a close friend at Sacred Heart Hospital of Eau Claire, WI on October 22, 2015.
Cheri is survived by parents, Russell and Hazel George of Wilmot, SD, her children; Jeremy Luken and Camille Hawkins of Augusta, WI, Jessica and Matt Johnson of Eau Claire, WI, and Justin Stanek of Chili, WI, a Brother Chris George of Atlanta, GA, four grandchildren Jackson, Joseph, Calysta, and Taelor, grandmother Marie George of Sisseton, SD, niece and nephew Lillian, and Christopher, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Cheri was preceded in death by her daughter (Macy Stanek), her maternal grandparents (Hazel and Norman Crocker), a very special grandmother (Vivian Lunsford), her paternal grandfather (James George), and three uncles.
