Obituary

Funeral Service for Charles "Chucky" Williams Siyo Hoksi'na "Prairie Chicken Boy", 72 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Sisseton
Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with Episcopal Lay Readers               officiating. Pianist will be Billy Kohl and Drum Group will be Long Elk. Pallbearers will be Jon Williams, Warren Redday, Joseph Williams, Klye Williams, Tracy Heminger Sr., and John Heminger. Honorary Pallbearers will be Darrell White, Jackie White, David White, CR James,

John Redday Sr., Gordon & Joann Bird, Billy Kohl, Eddie Bissonette, Gayle Rencountre, Doug "Tubbs" Rencountre Sr., Geraldine Rencountre, Stacy "Tuzz" Wanna, and Jackie Bird.  Interment will be at St. John's Episcopal Cemetery, rural Browns Valley, South Dakota. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Charles was born on August 30, 1947 at Rosholt, SD to Daniel Harris Williams and Rebecca Eleanor DeMarrias. He attended Allied Auto Repair School, drove truck in Montana, Job Core at Kicking Horse. He liked to listen to his Oldie music, hunt & fish, play bingo and go to the casino. He was a champion old style grass dancer and sang with many drum groups over the years as they traveled to many pow-wows. He enjoyed the art of cooking and had an annual cookout for family and friends. He was a fan of Tiospa Zina sports attending many games and was recognized for this support. Charles passed away on January 3, 2020 at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND

Charles is survived by his daughter, Vina Williams of Sisseton, SD; one sister, Sarah Williams-Siyaka of St. Paul, Minnesota; two brothers, Joe Williams of Rosholt, SD and Frank (Leri Lee) Williams of Sisseton, SD; five grandchildren, Jon Williams of Aberdeen, SD, Warren Redday of Wahpeton, ND, Rayanna Redday of Sisseton, SD, Alana Redday of Sisseton, SD and Julia Redday of Yankton, SD; his wife, Nina Johnson of Sisseton, SD; sixteen great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Julie Williams of Veblen, SD, Rebecca Theisen of Rosholt, SD and Yvonne Bear of Sisseton, SD; special great grandson Abel Acosta of Sisseton, SD.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geraldine Spider; infant siblings, Dennis, Rosalie, Gerald and Aurelia; one brother, Lars Williams; three sisters, Zelma Williams Heminger, Cecelia Block and Florestine (Tina) White.
