Funeral Service for Charles "Rusty" Russell Wyman 86 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. LeRoy Boender and Pastor Dwight Fearing officiating. Organist will be Estelle Pearson and soloist will be Janeen Kohl. Urn Bearer will be Loretta Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Rutsy's Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with 6:00 P.M. Prayer Service at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD. Military Rites by Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post #50 and Fort Sisseton Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #3342.   Inurnment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Charles Russell Wyman was born May 30 ^th , 1930, in Peever, SD to William Wyman and Ollie (Moore) Wyman.  He attended school at Agency #3 south of Sisseton and graduated June 1, 1945 from the 8 ^th grade.  Charles worked as a farmhand for Raymond Opitz of rural Peever from 1945 until he entered the US Army on July 24, 1952. Charles completed his High School Equivalency education on December 29, 1953, from the US Armed Forces Institute, Japan. While in the US Army he was deployed to the Korean War. Charles was a Corporal in Company E, 14 ^th Infantry until his Honorable Discharge April 23, 1954. After the war, Charles returned to Sisseton and was employed at Brooks Motors in Sisseton where he worked as an auto painter from 1954 to 1967.  On July 23, 1955, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Adeline Stavick, at Webster, SD.  They made their home in Sisseton. Charles and Adeline opened a store in Sisseton in 1966, called The Stadium Grocery.  It started small, but was very a very successful venture and soon grew.  The store was ahead of its time, being an early business model of the now common "quick stop" in that it was well-located by the junction of highways 10 and 81, sold groceries, gas, fast food and other items seven days per week, from morning until night, and in an era when stores were closed in the afternoon and on Sunday.  Nights and Sundays were always busy in the early days before other establishments followed the example and the interstate was built. Charles loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, playing horse shoes and the Minnesota Twins.  He also enjoyed attending High School basketball games when time allowed.  After Charles retired from the store, he spent his time fishing with his friends, visiting, spending time with his grandchildren and working part time with Green Thumb and the city of Sisseton.  Charles passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, surrounded by his family, at Sanford Medical Center in Wheaton, MN.          Grateful for having shared Charles life are his children, David (Shirley) Wyman of Waubay; Loretta (Gary) Smith of Beardsley, MN; Darlene (David) Kuntz of Hankinson, ND; Barbara Wyman (Russell Boehning) of Hankinson, ND; his older brother, Marvin Wyman, of Portland, OR; nine grandchildren:  Paul, Melissa, Angela, Brandon, Kyle, Natasha, Jordan, Aaron, and Brooke; fourteen great-grandchildren; Alexander, Mason, Madeline, Morgan, Mercedes, Maddison, Ava, Mackenzie, Aiden, Taylor, Damien, Zachary, Tate, and Maci.        Charles is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Adeline "Pinky" Wyman, his sister Dorothy, his brother Kenneth and his brother Robert.
