Obituary

Funeral Service for Cecil Anthony "Hepan" Renville Sr. 84 of Agency Village, South Dakota will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Community Center, Agency Village, SD with Senior Catechist John Cloud III officiating. Pianist will be Billy Kohl. Drum Group will be Shortfoot Creek. Pallbearers will be Romeo Renville, Lonnie Rodlund, Jerome Renville Sr., Gabriel Rodlund, Creighton Renville, Evan Rodlund, Brian Rodlund Jr., and Kip Renville. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Goette, Faye Johnston, Delano Renville, Charlie Wyman, Duane Gronau, Francis "Kojak" Heminger and all of Cecil's friends and The Veterans Groups of the Sisseton Area. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD with Military Rites by the Sandmen. All Night Wake Services will be held on Tuesday, and Wednesday, at 7:00 PM at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Community Center. Cecil was born on October 24, 1926 in Sisseton, SD to Mason and Rose (Barker) Renville. He grew up and attended school at Peever and Old Agency. He worked for area farmers and broke horses. Cecil served in the United States Army from March 14, 1951 to March 25, 1953, where he received the Army of Occupation (Germany) Badge. Following his discharge he worked for many area farmers. Cecil was united in marriage to Mabel Spider. He liked to attend rodeos, and he was a baseball player, he also liked to hunt and fish and was a grass dancer. He loved to play and joke with his grandchildren and liked to play the slots. Cecil passed away on June 18, 2011 at his home in Agency village, SD.
Cecil is survived by one son, Cecil Renville Jr., one step daughter, Cheryl Spider of Agency Village, SD, one sister, Tina Renville of Agency Village, SD, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, special granddaughter, Lakota Renville, several other grandchildren, and brothers and sisters, Cyril, Mason Jr., Loretta, Lacquetta, Gladys, and Lila.
