Obituary

Funeral Mass for Caryn Elizabeth Curran, 60 of Claire City, SD will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Fr. Norman Volk, OMI Celebrant. Organist will be Colette Hull and song leaders will be Katie Bragg and Sandi Jaspers. Pallbearers will be Gary Gleason, Tim Gleason, Dale Medenwald, Terry Rudolph, Eli Nissen and David Gravdal. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Caryn's Family & Friends. Interment will be in the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Friday, July 9, 2010 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM with a 7:30 PM Prayer Service at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Caryn was born on February 20, 1950 in Veblen, SD to Emmett and Eleanor (Skogen) Gravdal. She grew up and attended country school and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1968. Following high school she went to work for the BIA for several years. Caryn was united in marriage to Charles Curran on October 6, 1973 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD. Caryn then began working at the Farm Service Agency Office in Sisseton, SD retiring on October 3, 2009 after 32 years of government service. She liked to cook holiday meals, traveling to Texas in the winter, play cards, Norwegian hardanger, and she loved morning coffee on the steps. Caryn was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD. Caryn passed away suddenly on July 6, 2010 at a Fargo, ND hospital.
Caryn is survived by her husband, Charles Curran of Claire City, SD; one son Curtis and fiancé Joann Drew of Sisseton, SD; and one daughter, Carrie Curran of Mitchell, SD; two sisters, Mrs. Doris Johnson of Rush City, MN and Pam and husband, Gary Richardt of Sauk Rapids, MN; four brothers-in-law, Keith and Sandee Curran of Sisseton, SD, James and Judy Curran of Mobridge, SD, Richard and Nancy Curran of Veblen, SD and William and Waneta Curran of Rapid City, SD; three sisters-in-law, Agnes and husband, Dennis Bosze of Tennessee and Mrs. Patricia Cimburek of Columbus, NE, and Ruth Haaland of Veblen, SD.
Caryn was preceded in death by her parents, twin infant daughter and son, one brother, James Gravdal, and two brothers-in-law, Robert Curran and Charles Cimburek.
