Funeral Service for Carole H. Thode, 91, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. William Schruba officiating. Organist will be Mona Greseth with soloist Pat Schubert. Pallbearers will be Steven Smith, Eric Thode, Timmy Thode, Dustin Thode, Scott Cornelius, and Theodor Thode. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the Cahill Funeral Chapel from 3:00 to 7:00 PM with Family present from 5:00PM to 7:00 PM. There will be visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Thursday.
Carole was born on July 9, 1920 in Roslyn, SD to Henry and Emilie (Stenberg) Cornelius. She grew up and attended Country School and graduated from Webster High School. After her education she worked for Thelin Cleaners in Sisseton, SD. On August 28, 1948 she married Theodore A. Thode in Minneapolis, MN. The couple returned to Sisseton where Carole worked for the Sisseton Public Schools, Roberts County Courthouse and then DaCotah Inc. Theodore passed away on July 26, 1976. She liked sewing, quilting, gardening, and baking, and taking care of her family and grandchildren. She was a member of the VFW and Legion Auxillary and a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church. She passed away December 18, 2011 at Coteau des Prairies Hospital, Sisseton, SD with her family at her side.
Carole is survived by 4 children Ted and (Jan) Thode of Harwood, ND; Tim and (Fay) Thode of Blaine, MN; Teresa Thode and Dale Brooks of Sisseton, SD; and Tom Thode of Sisseton, SD; one brother Wallace and (Connie) Cornelius of Sun Lakes, AZ; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four grandchildren Steven, Michael, Matthew, and Theodore, one brother Harris, and two sisters Armantha, and Doris.
