Funeral Service for Carole Crawford, "Pis'ko", 74, of Sisseton, South Dakota will be on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Buffalo Lake District Center, Eden, South Dakota with Butch Felix and Episcopal Lay Readers officiating. Drum group will be Long Elk. Pallbearers will be Matthew Gill, Jerred Gill, Cody Gill, Marcus Gill, Justice Fulton, Trae Mosser, Brandon Ponder, Cameron Grant, Nate Shepherd, Dusty Spider, Forrest LaBatte, and Josh Shepherd.
Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Carole's Friends and Family, all Sundancers and Pipe Girls,
and Special Friends Ron, Wambdi, and Shayne Cook, Louis and Kathy Wojcik, Franklin Keeble and Jimmy Janisch. Interment will be in the Buffalo Lake Presbyterian Cemetery, Eden, SD. There will be an all night wake on Sunday, December 2, 2018 starting at 7:00 PM at the Buffalo Lake District Center, Eden, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Carole was born on July 7 th , 1944 the daughter of Lillian King and George Lesniak. She grew up in the Buffalo Lake area and, later, lived in Minneapolis, MN, Chicago, IL, and Watertown, SD eventually returning home and settling in the Buffalo Lake area. Carole excelled at a data entry career in Chicago, IL and eventually in Watertown, SD, in which her family settled. She later began a career with Tiospa Zina Tribal School after returning to Buffalo Lake on the Lake Traverse Reservation. She spent nearly 20 years cultivating and encouraging children to grow, develop, and eventually graduate. She rejoiced in seeing them in the community as they became adults seeking their own path.
Carole loved spending time with her family on holidays, birthdays, and on special occasions. She also loved shopping, playing slots and cards, and sewing.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Coteau des Prairies Hospital and Clinic, IHS, and Avera Health Care. They have all been a part of our lives for the last five years.
Carole is survived by her three daughters - Lolita Seaboy (Enemy Swim, SD), Kayleen Mosser (Buffalo Lake, SD), Dawn Pilcher (Buffalo Lake, SD) and one son – Gary Dean LaBatte (Granite Falls, MN), and special daughter Ginger Billie (Chicago, IL). She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, siblings- Kunsi "Evelyn" Pilcher, Geno DeMarrias, Jake DeMarrias Jr., and Peggy King.
She is preceded in death by her parents, spouse, Lloyd Crawford, one grandchild, sisters Geraldine St. John and Martha King.
