Funeral Service for Carol Fiferlick, 96, formerly of Veblen, SD will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Veblen, SD, with the Rev. Tryphine Olson-Schruba officiating. Organist will be Colleen Halverson and the soloist will be Thealoy Pallansch. Pallbearers will be Steven, Austin and David Kurkowski, Jim Ackerman, Jim Gustafson and Tom Anderson. Interment will be in the Veblen Cemetery, Veblen, SD. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Cahill Funeral Chapel from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM with family present from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. There will be visitation on Friday, at the Church one hour prior to the Funeral Service. Carol Hendrickson was born on October 18, 1917, at Sisseton, SD to Adolph and Petra (Kjos) Hendrickson. Carol was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She attended school in Veblen, graduating in 1935. Carol worked in Aberdeen and later for her dad in the grocery store in Veblen. She married Leslie Fiferlick on October 10, 1941, at Veblen. To this union was born a daughter, Sheryl, on June 6, 1946. Carol traveled with her husband to various states, when he was in the Air Force. After retiring in 1964, Carol and Les returned to Veblen, where she was bookkeeper at the Coop. After Leslie's death in November 1997, Carol moved to Pleasant View Apartments in Webster. She was there until September 2013, and then entered the Strand-Kjorsvig Home in Roslyn, SD. Carol was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Veblen. She enjoyed playing her piano with such emphasis and passion, up until a few months before her passing. Carol also liked finding interesting articles and history of family in the newspapers, and would send them to family and friends. She loved to tell jokes and humorous stories, which we will all miss. Her family was her whole world. Carol passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Sanford Hospital, Webster, SD.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Sheryl and son-in-law Richard Kurkowski of Waubay, SD; grandson Steven (Lela) Kurkowski, of Watertown, SD, granddaughter, Sandra (Jim) Ackerman of Watertown, SD and grandson David (Katrina) Kurkowski of Waubay, SD; great grandchildren, Autumn and Austin Kurkowski of Watertown, SD, Joleigh Kurkowski of Waubay, SD and Tierra Roper of Watertown, SD and Billie Roper of Omaha, NE.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Leslie.
