Brice Howard Mckay's Obituary
Funeral Service for Brice Howard McKay, 27 of Browns Valley, MN will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at St. John's Episcopal Church, Browns Valley, SD. with the Rev. Charles Chan and Rev. Les Campbell and Vern Cloud Catechist officiating. Pallbearers will be Lonnie Runnels, Robert White Thunder Jr., Bob James, Duran Renville, Daniel Shepherd, Silvester Little, Brody St. John and Derrick Arcoren. Honorary Pallbearers will be Special Friends Donald RedOwl and Tammy Shepherd and Leonard Shepherd and all of Brice's Rodeo Buddies, Friends and Relatives. Pianist will be Kay Burshiem with special music by Joe and Kathy White. Interment will be in St. John's Episcopal Cemetery, Browns Valley, SD. There will be an all night wake on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 starting at 7:00 P.M. at Lake Traverse District Center, Browns Valley, SD.
Brice Howard McKay was born on November 16, 1981 to Floyd Howard McKay and Katie (Kitto) McKay. Brice was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Episcopal Church. He grew up and attended school in Browns Valley, MN, Sisseton and graduated from Flandreau Indian School. Following his education he returned to the Browns Valley area where he worked for the Peterson Ranch and Dakota Magic Casino. Brice liked to rodeo, where he rode bulls. He liked to break horses, and he also liked music and liked to do artwork. He liked to hang out and visit with his family and friends. Brice passed away on June 7, 2009 at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Brice is survived by his mother, Katie McKay of Browns Valley, MN and his father, Floyd Howard McKay of Ft. Totten, ND; three aunts, Vastana James and Darlyn Kitto and Marva Shepherd of Browns Valley, MN; one uncle, Dean Kitto of Sisseton, SD; adopted brother Walter Thompson of Ft. Totten, ND, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and Godson Kenny (Cro) Ortley, and Godparents Delbert Pumpkinseed, Bob James, and Ramona Keeble.
Brice was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, one aunt, Ramona Keeble, and one uncle, Earlwin Kitto.
