Funeral Service for Borghild Marie (Sather) Huebner, 99 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Friday, January 30, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, South Dakota with the Rev. William Schruba officiating. Organist will Mona Greseth and soloist will be Aaron Deutsch. Pallbearers will be Steven Huebner, David, Evan, Randy, Joseph and Kaden Peterson. Honorary pallbearers will be all Registered Nurses everywhere. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park, Minneapolis, MN. There will be visitation on Thursday, January 29, 2009 from noon to 7:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Borghild was born on April 8, 1909 in Sisseton, South Dakota to O.K. and Ragnhild (Bakke) Sather. She was baptized and confirmed at Scandia Lutheran Church, Hart Township, Roberts County, SD. She attended school in Sisseton and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1927. Following high school she attended Lutheran Deaconess School of Nursing and graduated in 1932 with a Nursing Degree. Borghild was united in marriage to Ervin O. "Jack" Huebner on October 28, 1937 in Minneapolis, MN. The couple lived for several years in Grand forks, ND before moving to St. Louis Park, MN where they resided for twenty nine years. She moved to Edina, MN in 1972. Borghild was a registered nurse at the Deaconess Hospital where she was an evening supervisor for fifteen years. She took great pride in being a nurse. Borghild was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and Dorcus Circle. She focused on her family, church and work. She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, crocheting, interior design, and traveled at home and abroad. She moved to Sisseton in 1999 and lived at the Greenleaf Assistant Living Center and later moved to the Tekakwitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD where she passed away on January 25, 2009.
Borghild is survived by two children, Robert and wife, Karen Huebner, of Ames, Iowa and Marcia and husband, Sherman Peterson of Sisseton, SD; one brother, Arthur Sather of Sisseton, SD; seven grandchildren, David (Donna) Peterson, Randal (Shelly) Peterson, Sue (Mark) Fischer all of Sisseton, SD, Evan (Jeannie) Peterson of St. Peter, MN, Steven Huebner of Des Moines, IA, Amy (Shawn) Miller, and Ann (Brian) Townsend both of Minneapolis, MN, twelve great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews; and one sister-in-law, Darlene Sather of Sisseton, SD.
Borghild was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one granddaughter, Tanya Wegleitner, three brothers, Reuben, Clifford and Palmer Sather, and two sisters, Rachel and Esther.
