Obituary

Funeral Mass for Blanche Frances Nigg, 86 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Fr. Norman Volk, OMI Celebrant. Organist will be Cindy Marohl and song leader will be Missy Heinecke. Pallbearers will be Terry Bubak, Neil Long, Marvin Bubak, Gary Johnson, Herschel Jacobson, and Richland Gilson. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Blanche's Friends and Relatives. Interment will be in the Veterans Section of the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Friday, August 21, 2009 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Blanche Frances Meetis was born on April 1, 1923 to Babe Meetis in Fall River, Mass. Blanche grew up and attended school in at the St. Vincent DePaul Orphanage. Following her education she was united in marriage to Robert F. Nigg on October 11, 1943 at Cambridge, Mass. Her husband Bob was serving in the Navy and following his discharge the couple moved to Oakland, CA. During her husband's reenlistment in the Army, being a policeman, and working on the railroad again, Blanche stayed at home to care for her family wherever they were living. The couple retired and moved to Sisseton where Bob passed away on July 7, 1994. She loved having garage sales, watching MN Twins baseball, gardening, pull tabs and loved to walk. Blanche was a longtime member of the Fort Sisseton VFW Auxiliary. Blanche passed away on August 19, 2009 at Southview Acres Living Center, West St. Paul, MN.
Blanche is survived by five children, Robert A. Nigg of Cottage Grove, MN, Peggy and husband, Terry Bubak of South St. Paul, MN, Gerald and wife, Colleen Nigg of Chicago, IL, David and wife, Sue Nigg of Grove, MN, and Kathleen and husband, Gary Johnson of Cottage Grove, MN; fourteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.
Blanche was preceded in death by her mother, husband, one daughter, Mary Ann Stadt-Nigg, and one great grandson, Christian Lewis Bohn.
