Funeral Service for Beverly Mae Okeson, 77, of Sisseton, SD, will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. William Schruba, Rev. Suzanne Benidt, and Rev. David Berg officiating. Organist will be Mona Greseth and special music by Janeen Kohl. Pallbearers will be Dr. Randy and Dr. Judy Beumer, Arlo and Helen Huff, Les and Marilyn Goodsell, David and Mary Lotzer, and Virgil and Bonnie Lotzer. Honorary Pallbearers, The Breakfast Club from K&K, Stehphen Ministry Class and The residents, staff and spouses of the Tekakwitha Nursing Center. There will be visitation on Sunday, February 5, 2012 from 1 to 5 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel. There will be visitation one hour prior to the Funeral Service on Monday at Grace Lutheran Church. Beverly Mae Okeson was born on May 20, 1934 to Walter and Myrtle (McRoberts) Okeson in Easter Township, Roberts County, Sisseton, SD. She attended rural school in Easter Township for eight years, four years at Sisseton High School and then graduated from Northern University at Aberdeen, SD. She worked for one year as a clerk at Woodward's in Sisseton. She taught rural school for five years and worked as a bookkeeper for Landsberger Creamery and Produce later known as Schiltz Foods retiring in July of 1997. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Sisseton, where she taught Sunday school and was a leader for Jr. and Sr. League. She was a driver and chaperone for a Sr. League group when they went to Florida for a National League Convention. She was a member of the Church Choir and served as a Stephen Minister. On May 23, 1969 she married Donald Danek. Her hobbies were drawing, oil painting, music, training horses and dogs. She enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed having fun riding snowmobile, motorcycle, skating, and horseback riding and riding in convertibles. She enjoyed making people laugh with her entertaining. She was a member of an old time band and played for dances and also enjoyed dancing herself. Bev passed away on February 2, 2012 at the Tekakwitha Nursing Center in Sisseton, SD.
She leaves to mourn cousins, brother-in-law Harvey and wife, Bev Danek, nieces, nephews friends, and neighbors.
Bev was preceded in death by her brother Wayne, Mother, Dad, and Don.
